Correctional Officer Mental Health
There has been an increase in mental health cases among correctional officers across Connecticut. Excessive work hours in correctional facilities are linked to causing high-stress environments resulting in mental health problems; facilities realize high stress and fewer stress workers are experiencing more attendance issues, negatively impacting the health of healthy correctional officers. Much research has been done on mental health outcomes associated with corrective work. Mental health disorders include anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and other issues related to well-being and life quality.
